"We, as Arrowmen, have the great privilege of pointing the way to other people . . . it's the way to happiness in life. It's the way of cheerful service."

Come on Ya’ll and Join the Wild West at Section Conclave 2008

What are factors that inspire you to do something? Is it because you can meet new people with the same interests as you?  Maybe it is because you can have an outrageous amount of fun?  How about learning valuable information that you can use to better yourself and others?  What about meeting a high ranking officer in a national organization?  Would it entice you if you could go back into a dream of your 5-year-old self again?  What if I told you that you could accomplish all of these at the Section C-2C conclave, April 18-20 at Camp Kikthawenund?  Would you go this something?

At conclave you can:

·         Meet new Arrowmen from across Indiana

·         Participate in Lodgeball (lodge v. lodge dodge ball), ultimate Frisbee, card tournaments, riverboat games, and a patch auction

·         Attend trainings from experienced trainers and learn valuable information to help yourself and your lodge.

·         Meet the Central Region Chief, Tyler Elliot

·         Do all of this with a “Wild, Wild, West” theme. Harness you inner Cowboy and come dressed up!!

So if you find yourself interested in joining us at the Wild Wild West conclave then you will need to send in the registration from downloadable at the below link with the money.  Cost of Conclave is $30 for youth and $40 for adults for the early bird registration, due by March 31 in the Council office.  $10 fee will be added on or after March 31st.

Chiefly Speaking

It is my honor to be serving as Takachsin Lodge Chief for a second term.  There is a lot going on this year including the 35th Anniversary of the lodge.  WE are in the process of coming up with an anniversary lodge flap for this year.  Some other things going on this year is Section Conclave at Camp Kithawenund in Frankton, IN.  There are also the two Ordeals and the Fall Fellowship.  I am excited about this year and hope to see everyone at the event.

Francis Lee – James E. West Fellow
This past year we lost our fellow Arrowman, Francis Lee. Francis was a former lodge adviser who you could see at many lodge events through out the year giving cheerful service, encouraging young men to enjoy Scouting, and most of all smiling.
We seek to honor the memory of our dedicated brother by raising funds to name Francis a James E. West Fellow.
A West Fellowship is awarded by donating $1000 to a council’s endowment fund. The endowment fund, which Takachsin Lodge shares with Sagamore Council, is a gift that keeps on giving as the initial monies return a sizeable interest that is used for all types of Scouting programs. The Lodge has a share in this endowment which allows us to use monies for training our youth and adult leaders on a lodge, region, and national level.
Any level of giving towards this West Fellowship to honor our brother, Francis Less is greatly appreciated. Please use the form on the back to do so. Thank you for your generosity.

Winter Banquet Recap

This year’s Winter Banquet was held at Cary Camp in their new dining hall.  We had 30 adults and 19 youths attend the banquet.  Our guest speaker this year was Bob Bishop who gave us a talk about Native American dancing.  We honored our new members, Brotherhood members, and Vigil Honor members.  The recipient of the Key Three Award this year was Matthew Spalding.
